African-American Flag Reproduction, by David Hammons

David Hammons' African American Flag reimagines the United States flag, replacing its colors with the red, green, and black of the African diaspora identity and Pan-African Universal Negro Improvement Association, founded in 1914. Hammons initially created an edition of ten flags for a 1990 exhibition in New York City, and the Studio Museum Harlem has flown its version of the artwork above its entrance in Harlem, New York, since 2004. This reproduction was created from that flag.
