This 2007 exhibition aimed to show both the continuity and developments in Leonard Baskin’s work throughout his distinguished career, filtered through his portrayals of women – a lens of a subject not usually associated with this prolific artist. A longtime professor at Smith College and resident of the Pioneer Valley, Baskin worked in almost every visual art medium, with the exception of oil, and was best known for his emotionally charged bronze sculptures and black-and-white woodcuts.
