Real Clothes, Real Lives: 200 Years of What Women Wore
Real Clothes, Real Lives: 200 Years of What Women Wore is the first outside look at Smith College’s Historic Clothing Collection, which has over 4,000 individual pieces.
Writer Kiki Smith (Class of ’71), is a member of the faculty in the Smith College Theatre Department. She has spent years studying and curating this collection, as well as guiding students across various disciplines to think critically about the history of what we wear. In addition to her academic work, Kiki is an award-winning costume and set designer.
We invite you to page through her book. Not only will you appreciate the images of each historic piece, but you’ll find that the accompanying analysis is perfectly digestible and easy to enjoy.
